About AlpacaStation.com
Decided after too many years of city living to venture into the country with our two small daughters and fulfill our dream of getting back to the land and working by the sweat of the brow. We want our daughters to appreciate butterflies and blueberries and grow thier own food.
Never met live stock that would be enjoyable to look after until we met the Alpaca. We now understand why the Incas and modern South Americans held them so closely.
Farm
We have a farm in Scotsburn, Nova Scotia on Canada's East Coast. It has a tremendous view of the rolling hills in Pictou county. We love it and the alpacas love it too! There is 160 acres cleared fertile land on the farm so there is lots of room for expansion and grain and hay crops.
Objectives and Breeding Strategy
Our objective is to breed healthy, hardy animals with exceptional fleece quality. By providing a clean and natural environment, we believe that we can promote their health and conformation. We aim to provide exercise, green pastures, natural social habitat, sunlight, fresh water, fresh air, leading to a minimization of stress. With sound health as a base, their fiber quality is improved through breeding selection.
We’re starting by concentrating on breeding fineness, conformation and maintain a full spectrum of color. We believe fineness is most important. The finer the fleece, the finer the end product.
Our Background
We both have lots of computer experience and intend to utilize computers as much as possible for our operation. We'll be happy to offer advice if you have a computer related question concerning your operation. Marie-Mai, B.H.S.(Bachelor in Health Science), worked for 5 years in research with an International Public Health Speaker. She also worked in a lifestyle health center where she was trained to give hydrotherapy, massage, lectures, cooking schools, and lifestyle assessment.
